Individual Care

Our firm is structured to represent national companies and small enterprises, as well as individuals dealing with local challenges. We teach what we practice, and are always willing to provide seminars on complicated topics for your company, association or network to help eliminate uncertainty and encourage best practices.

Community Based

Community service is a core value of our firm. We devote a significant portion of our firm resources to pro bono and community service endeavors. We undertake lecturing and teaching activities, mentoring of local students and serve on school and community committees. We serve founding counsel for non-profits (notably including The Pinhead Institute, Just for Kids Foundation, and Mountains to Desert biking event) and participate on the board of directors for an international nonprofit, Namlo International. We also counsel a variety of non-profit enterprises.


Douglas R. Tueller, Esq.

Founding Partner


Doug has been providing business and legal advice to clients and actively participating in business ventures in various capacities throughout the United States and internationally since 1982. Doug spent his academic years at USC, Stanford Law School, University of Vienna, and the Max Planck Institute in Hamburg, Germany (as a Rotary Ambassadorial Fellow) studying, researching, translating and publishing. Over the years Doug has been engaged in a number of entrepreneurial ventures and has served in senior management-level and general counsel positions with privately-held real estate development and investment firms. These include associations ranging from small residential associations to highly complex mixed-use commercial, residential, retail communities throughout the West. Doug trained initially in Colorado with Holme Roberts & Owens (now Bryan Cave HRO) and in California with the international law firm Graham & James (now Squire Sanders). Immediately prior to moving his family to Telluride in 1992, Doug served as special counsel for The Disney Store Group, as it expanded its operations overseas and throughout North America.
Doug also has formed and has either chaired or served as general counsel for numerous nonprofit entities, both internationally and in California, Nevada and Colorado. Since moving to Telluride he chaired the Rotary International in Post-Graduate Fellowship program in Colorado for over a decade and the Telluride Rotary Scholarship Committee since the early 1990s. In 2014, he was elected chairman of the Rotary Foundation and was appointed to the Colorado Bar Association Real Estate Section Committee in the summer of 2016. In the early 1990s, Doug also served on both the organizing committee and first Town Council responsible for forming the Town of Mountain Village near Telluride, Colorado. He currently serves as general counsel for the Just for Kids Foundation, the Pinhead Institute, Telluride Arts, Mountains to Desert and the Ah Haa School for the Arts and was active in the Telluride R-1 School District for over a decade, serving on numerous accountability, data and principal/superintendent committees.

Andrew J. Gibbs, Esq.

Founding Partner


Andrew is a litigator with an emphasis on real estate, construction and corporate disputes, homeowner association representation and personal injury litigation. Andrew has taken over 75 cases to trial or arbitration hearing, and creatively resolved hundreds of complex and often emotionally charged conflicts between entities, individuals and non-profit boards. Andrew’s extensive trial experience earned him recognition in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 Colorado Super Lawyers Rising Stars list. This designation is given to the top 2.5% of attorneys in Colorado based on peer recognition and professional achievement.
As a certified mediator, Andrew applies his years of litigation experience and negotiation acumen to help parties resolve their differences on their volition instead of enduring the substantial risk of trial. He is also a regular speaker at Front Range Investor Network and the Independent Brokers Group, where he lectures and engages small and large-group discussions on the anatomy of real estate development, construction and broker disputes and emphasizes pitfall avoidance.
Andrew grew up in Tucson, Arizona, received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2001, and his BA from the University of Arizona in 1997, where he majored in communication with a double minor in business and history. Andrew studied international comparative law at the University of Nairobi in Nairobi, Kenya in 1999. He has been an adjunct legal studies instructor at Parks College in Thornton, Colorado (since closed) and was a teaching fellow for the Masters in American & Comparative Law program at University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
Andrew has served on Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Board for NAMLO International, an international aid organization that focuses sustainable economic development in Nepal and Nicaragua; Andrew is currently serves on the Advisory Board. Andrew is a volunteer mediator for Jefferson County.
Andrew is also actively involved in the local community through volunteer work at Wyatt Edison Charter School, an inner city Denver elementary school. Andrew is a world traveler, has visited over 30 countries on six continents, an is avid mountain biker and skier.

David F. J. Dye, Esq.



David focuses his practice in real estate matters and has extensive experience in all aspects of commercial real estate ownership and development, with an emphasis on the acquisition and disposition of commercial properties and restaurant/retail leasing. Prior to joining Tueller & Gibbs, LLP David developed considerable commercial leasing expertise representing publicly-traded companies owning and operating thousands of restaurant locations worldwide. In addition, he served as developer’s counsel in connection with the construction and development of an ultra-luxury hotel/condominium resort located in the Town of Mountain Village, Colorado. As a result, David is well-versed in all aspects of commercial condominium development, including the preparation of condominium governing documents, reviewing and negotiating complex construction loan documents, and working with the Colorado Common Interest.

Ross E. Carey, Esq.



Ross is a litigator with a focus on real estate and business matters.  Prior to joining Tueller & Gibbs, Ross worked in complex commercial litigation at Rollin Braswell Fischer LLC (now Fox Rothschild), defending a large financial institution against multi-billion-dollar residential mortgage-backed securities claims.
Since graduating from the University of Illinois College of Law, Ross has represented clients in a variety of matters including regulatory matters, contract negotiations, and proceedings before the Colorado Supreme Court Board of Law Examiners.  This diversity of experience allows Ross to confidently and effectively assist his clients.
Ross has a degree in history from Vassar College.  Prior to attending law school, Ross worked on a number of political campaigns managing field operation and election law compliance. In his free time, Ross enjoys exploring the Colorado outdoors in his Ford Bronco, following the Red Sox, and watching classic movies.

Sean K. Murphy, Esq.

Of Counsel


Sean began his professional life at the German Federal Trust Agency, mediating conflicting property restitution claims in the wake of German reunification.  Sean subsequently practiced law at White & Case, LLP, Mayer, Brown & Platt, LLP and Deloitte Tax, LLP for 16 years in New York, specializing in tax and mergers and acquisitions.  Following his entrepreneurial interests, Sean moved to Telluride in 2012 to open a wine bar and fine art gallery business.  Sean was elected mayor of Telluride in November 2015 and currently serves as of counsel to the firm of Tueller & Gibbs, LLP, with offices in Denver and Telluride.  Sean is currently licensed in New York, North Carolina and Colorado.

Danielle Felder, Esq.

Of Counsel


Danielle represents clients in a variety of complex civil litigation matters, including employment discrimination, all manner of commercial disputes, as well as real estate and zoning matters. She handles internal investigations for clients in connection with complaints, charges, and claims brought by employees, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and state administrative agencies. She has experience prosecuting and defending claims involving contracts, business torts, easements and adverse possession, landlord-tenant disputes, employment law, defamation, intellectual property, personal injury defense and professional negligence. She represents all types of clients from large publicly-traded corporations to limited liability companies, nonprofits, and individuals.

Prior to joining Tueller Gibbs, LLP, Danielle worked as a litigation associate in the Denver offices of various national law firms, where she honed her skills in all phases of litigation including dispositive motions practice, discovery and document production management, witness preparation, depositions, mediations, arbitration and trials (both jury and court trials). Danielle also served as a clerk to the Honorable Wiley Y. Daniel, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court of Colorado. Danielle graduated from the University of Colorado Law School, where she served as the Class President. She has her BSBA in International Business and Finance from the University of Denver.

Counsel to a publicly-traded, fast-casual restaurant, where she assisted in the dismissal of more than fifty employment administrative charges arising out of claims for wrongful termination, Title VII (including race, national origin, gender, gender identity, religion, and disability), sexual harassment, FMLA, FLSA, and retaliation including a class-action charge.
Counsel for a marijuana dispensary, where she assisted in obtaining injunctive relief against a former employee’s use of trade secrets and confidential information. Counsel for a sole proprietor, where she prevailed in the dismissal of a contract dispute with a leasing company for a credit card machine in both New York and Colorado. Counsel for a limited liability company, where she prevailed in the dismissal of a zoning violation and drastically decreased the penalties demanded by the county attorney against the client.
Counsel to a nonprofit corporation, where she achieved summary judgment for disability discrimination, retaliation, and reverse discrimination claims alleged by a current employee.

Catherine Conner, Esq.

Of Counsel


Over her thirty years of practice with real estate and business litigations and transactions, Catherine has managed to conduct trials, evidentiary hearings, motions practice, and discovery in federal, state and bankruptcy court involving business, contract, banking (deficiency, guaranty, mortgage enforcement) and real estate. She has also litigated claims of misrepresentation in the sale of real estate, managed real estate portfolios of commercial and industrial properties, resolved title claims including access, deposit claims and encroachments.
Documented real estate acquisitions, sales, financing and leases of commercial and industrial properties including due diligence, title and appraisal reviews. She has handled landlord/tenant matters including tenant improvements, construction defects, payment applications, lien waivers, estoppels, and accounting audits. She has reduced litigation costs through effective dispute resolution efforts.


Monique Bensett is a paralegal in our Telluride office, with over eight years of experience in corporate, real estate, homeowner association, foreclosure and title matters.  Monique received her B.A. in political science from Michigan State University and her degree in paralegal studies from Roosevelt University in Chicago.  She is also a board member of The Rico Center, a non-profit organization committed to preserving and enriching the quality of life for residents and visitors of Rico, Colorado.


Sarah Jean Rodger is a paralegal in our Denver office.  After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Environmental Studies from Western State Colorado University, she got her start in the legal field working for the Town of Crested Butte’s Town Attorney.  During that time, Sarah Jean completed a Paralegal Certificate with the University of Colorado Denver.  She relocated to the Denver area in 2017 and started with Tueller & Gibbs in 2018.


Jill Burchmore is from Aspen, Colorado and moved to Telluride with her husband and two sons in 1997.  She manages all aspects of Accounting and Human Resources at Tueller & Gibbs and has been with the firm since 2012.  Formerly, Jill served as Executive Director for the Telluride Board of REALTORS, Program Manager for Bright Futures for Early Childhood and Families and Board President for the Telluride Education Foundation.  She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English/Communications from Fort Lewis College in Durango.  She is a true Colorado girl and when she is not studying numbers, she is enjoying the outdoors with her husband John and their dog Stella.


Alexis Klein is a legal assistant in our Telluride office. She relocated to Telluride after graduating with a degree in Environmental Science from the University at Albany in order to complete a year of service as an AmeriCorps VISTA. She has worked and lived in the Telluride region in the public health sector since 2016. She joined the Tueller & Gibbs, LLP team in 2019.
